So I really cannot check this g2 Vision feature until I get on the water with the boat.Ģ) I asked why the 741xs does not show it has discovered the g2 Vision card even when camera icons are displayed. I now recall having this issue in my R-25 when docked at my Marina. This does make sense when you think about it. I spoke with Garmin Tech Help and they told meġ) The auto guidance "Guide To" will only work when the boat is on the water and not inside a Marina. Over the years I've seen others posting about this 'straight line' issue.

I'm beginning to think I need to configure something in the 741s to cause the software to calculate a 'safe course'. Here you can see the system has simply drawn a straight line from my current position and the destination waypoint. I did this all the time on my R-25.Ģ) When I select "Navigate To" -> "Auto Guidance" after I've placed a waypoint on the chart the software still insists on drawing a straight line and not calculating and plotting a 'safe course' line. So this result was gratifying.ġ) I still cannot get any screen to allow me to "Guide To" a place selected by name. I had not done that before and after pressing the "+" several times the camera icons suddenly appeared on the screen. However, these camera icons only show up when zooming in a fair amount. This alone tells me the 741xs is actually seeing and reading the g2 Vision card data/map. I'm wondering if having the Raymarine p70R control head is getting in my way somehow. I'll keep trying to figure out things mind you. I tried the Navigate Auto Guide feature from my current position to a waypoint that would require the 741XS to carefully calculate a 'safe course' but instead it simply made a straight line course from my boat's position to the waypoint. These two maps show up, but the inserted microSD card map is not being displayed and I presume this is because the 741XS is not discovering it. However, after this I don't see any evidence in any of the 741XS displays that it has discovered the new g2 Vision map data nor its features.

The first time I inserted the microSD card the MFD wanted to update software, and that went AOK. However, I could not get to see any of the g2 Vision map features. Today I decided to checkout this g2 Vision card and was expecting to see map data, 3D camera points, POI, Guide To->Auto Guidance, choosing locations/marinas by name, etc just like when I used a g2 Vision card on my R-25 with the 5212 MFD that had a standard single SD card slot. The following was done with my R-21EC on its trailer in my driveway (engine not running). Raymarine SmartPilot SPX5-R with a p70R Control head connected to the NMEA network that all Garmin device are onįYI. I received my Garmin microSD Card BlueChart g2 Vision VCA018R 010-C1105-00 today.
